Peculiar to the Yugoslavs, Fr. John’s Croatian family celebrates the Feast of the Assumption/Dormition as their family “Slava”, which commemorates the day when the family converted to Christianity over a millennium ago!  “Slava” means “glory”, as this – the family’s faith and salvation in Christ – is the greatest glory any family can bear and celebrate.  Fr. John and Mat. Janine thus invite you all to celebrate with them at 5 PM with the ritual service when the Slava Bread and Kolyva are blessed and consumed in the church, whereby we commemorate and pray for all the living and departed members of their family.  Afterwards, all will be invited to join them for a feast at the rectory.  Please RSVP to Fr. John by Aug. 4th so that they can purchase food accordingly.
